Extract from Kandha Puranam

Om Saravanabhava :folded_hands:t3: :fire:

I thought I’d share this beautiful description of Muruga Perumane contained in an English translation of Kanda Puranam. This description is a narration on Muruga Perumane by Shiva Perumane when Muruga Perumane was a child playing in Mount Kailas.

“My dear Devi, Muruga has been born from the sparks of my eyes. Hence He will be as powerful as I am. As He was carried by River Ganga, he will also be known as Gangeyan. As He took a definite form at Saravana lake, His popular name will be “Saravanabhavan” . As you had united the six forms into one “Kandha” befits Him admirably.

All my six faces have become His now. Hence He gets name Shanmugkan or Armugkan also. My Panchakshara and Taraka Mantra have united to become Shadakshara for Him.

He is none other than me. He will also be omnipresent. He can take any form. He will protect all those who surrender unto Him. He will conquer Soorapadman and all other Asuras in order to help the Devas”
